Bedroom is the most personal space of a family member or a couple, so everyone can furnish it as they wish. However, there are some golden rules or recommendations during any décor and often, people do not follow these rules, perhaps even without realizing it. Below you will find some of the most common mistakes made when decorating a bedroom.
- Bedside table, too high or too low
When choosing a dresser for your room, make sure it has the right height and size. The ideal bedside table is one that has almost the same height as the bed and that is large enough to place a small lampshade, without taking up much space.
- A bed too large for the size of the room
When buying a new bed, it is important to consider the size of the room and choose a suitable bed size. As a rule, you should leave at least about 76 cm on each side of the bed, but these measurements may vary depending on the room and the bed.
- Lots of pillows
This is a mistake that people make very often, perhaps out of a desire for more home decor. The truth is, though, that more pillows will make the bed look more cluttered. It will even be harder for you to fix it every morning. On the other hand, the lack of pillows will make the bed look incomplete. Find a balance and make sure the bed has at least 1-2 pillows depending on the bed (single or double).
- Choosing the wrong bed head
The ‘head’ of the bed should match the style and decor of the room in order to create the right atmosphere. The size of the bed and the wall on which it will be placed are other factors that need to be considered.
- “Office” in the bedroom
The bedroom is meant to be a space of relaxation and comfort. This is why it is not recommended to have a desktop inside it. It can also affect the quality of sleep. If you do not have space at home to use it as an office, you can place your desk and / or computer as far away from the bed as possible. In this case, it is also important that the desk is always tidy.
- Lots of furniture inside the room
Try not to overdo it by occupying the entire space with furniture. The furniture used in the bedrooms is usually quite large objects (bed, closet, bedside tables, etc.), so it is good to think carefully before adding anything else.
- Use bright colors on the walls
It is recommended to use light colors, which promote a sense of calm. White, for example, is a good choice because it makes the room look bigger. However, this remains a matter of preferences, ideas and decorating concepts.
