A non waterproof umbrella? Can we still call it an umbrella? This was the reaction of people after Adidas x Gucci revealed their product.

The firms have received a lot of flak in China, as social media users mocked the fact that it doesn’t shield you from the rain and costs $1,300.

The product from the forthcoming Adidas x Gucci collection is described as a “sun umbrella” on the Gucci website, but it comes with a warning that “it is not waterproof and is designed for sun protection or ornamental usage.”

The hashtag “11,000 yuan tent is not waterproof” had more than 140 million views this week on China’s Weibo site, which is akin to Twitter.

Gucci told Beijing-based publication Caijing that the item “is not advised for use as an everyday tent” but has “collecting value and is suited for use as an everyday accessory.”

“As long as we are poor, they will not be able to trick us into paying for this tent,” users on Weibo stated, despite Gucci’s strong reasoning.
